In 2015, the USA voted to create a program that would certify coaches that could pair up with new or developing USA clubs. The goal of the program is to have coaches make visits to these clubs in need to teach them new skills and help develop their clubs. This program was developed by a committee sanctioned by the USA Board. The USA is now accepting applications from both prospective clubs and coaches to get this program running. All applications should be filled out and sent to the committee chair, Patricia Wilton.
The USA is looking for coaches, ages 16 and older, who have a minimum of one year of experience in teaching new skills. These coaches do not need to be affiliated with a club but they must have a desire to improve the ability of unicyclists in the USA. The USA is specifically looking for coaches with a diverse skill set in many disciplines of riding as well as the ability to help out with club organization. Coaches who are applying must have a minimum of two references who can attest to their coaching skills and if selected, these coaches will be reevaluated after each visit.
To apply to become a coach fill out this application.
In order to be selected to be a host club for a coach to visit, your club must be a USA Affiliated Club. A minimum of ten riders would need to be in attendance of the workshops led by the coach and workshops must be held for a minimum of six hours. These workshops do not all need to be riding-centered, they can also be a time for a Q & A session with the coach. The host club must cover all housing, food, venue expenses, and relevant transportation for the coach and they must be willing to provide an evaluation of the coach to the USA after the visit.
If this sounds like something that your club qualifies for, we encourage you to let us know by filling out this application.
