  The Redford Township Unicycle Club, Inc. offers a weekly session of beginning unicycling lessons each year. The 2025 Lesson session will be Saturdays January 11th through March 1st.

  WHEN:  Saturdays, January 11th, 9:30 am - 11:00 am,  January 18, 25,  February 7, 14, 21, 28,  10:00 am to 11:00 am. Graduation with be March 1st, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and will include practice time, graduation ceremony, brunch and practice with RTUC members. *

  WHERE:  Tipton Academy Gym, 29205 Florence St. Garden City, MI 48135.

  COST:  $60.00 for the first family member, and $30.00 for each additional family member living at the same address. This cost covers a weekly session of lessons (8 weeks), graduation brunch, and use of a unicycle during class time if the rider doesn’t have his/her own. 

  Do I need to OWN a unicycle to take the lessons?    No, RTUC will provide you with a unicycle during the class time if you do not have your own.

  Additional Important info: If you are planning on the purchase of a unicycle, please talk to an RTUC member for some advice or see our Recommendations page. The construction of some unicycles makes them more difficult to ride.

  The Unicycling Society of America, Inc has been selected to participate as a Specialty Unit in the 2024 Chicago Thanksgiving Parade. This is your opportunity to represent the unicycling community on a national stage, as the parade will be broadcasted live on PlutoTV. Grab your unicycle, tell your friends, and come ride with the USA this November 28th!

  Important Details:

  • The parade takes place in downtown Chicago on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 28, 2024. The parade steps off at 8:00 a.m. at State and Ida B. Wells Drive and ends at 11:00 a.m. at State and Randolph. Call times may be as early as 6:00 AM. More parade information can be found here.

  • There are coffee shops and porta-potties near the start of the parade

  • For those from out-of-town, the parade coordinators require participants to stay at the official parade hotel, the Sheraton Grand Riverwalk Chicago. In reality, though, any place to stay nearby the parade route would be fine.  Plan on walking from your hotel to the start of the parade, and walking back to your hotel from the end of the parade.

  • Parking: SpotHero can provide cheaper parking options, and ensure you have a close spot as opposed to finding day-of parking.

  Requirements to Ride: 

  • Uniform: Blue/black pants and dark long sleeve shirt/sweatshirt under the USA crewneck sweatshirt. The link to order sweatshirts will be emailed once registered. 

  • USA Membership: ALL riders must be current members of the Unicycling Society of America. To become a member, or renew membership, please visit the membership page. 

  • Helmets: 

  • • Standard (20” & 24”) - Helmet optional, but encouraged.

    • Giraffes - Helmet Required
