National Unicycle Week: held the 3rd full week of May

    The Redford Township Unicycle Club, Inc. offers a weekly session of beginning unicycling lessons each year. The 2026 Lesson session will be Saturdays January 10th through March 7th.

    WHEN:  Saturdays, January 10th, 9:30 am - 11:00 am,  January 17, 24, February 7, 14, 21, 28,  10:00 am to 11:00 am. Graduation with be March 7th, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and will include practice time, graduation ceremony, brunch and practice with RTUC members. *

    WHERE:  Tipton Academy Gym, 29205 Florence St. Garden City, MI 48135.

    COST:  $60.00 for the first family member, and $30.00 for each additional family member living at the same address. This cost covers a weekly session of lessons (8 weeks), graduation brunch, and use of a unicycle during class time if the rider doesn’t have his/her own. 

    Do I need to OWN a unicycle to take the lessons?    No, RTUC will provide you with a unicycle during the class time if you do not have your own.

    Additional Important info: If you are planning on the purchase of a unicycle, please talk to an RTUC member for some advice or see our Recommendations page. The construction of some unicycles makes them more difficult to ride.

    Register by March 1st to guarantee space on the Porcupine Rim shuttle. March 13th is the absolute cut-off for registering for the shuttle.

    NEW this year are rides split by difficulty for Friday and Sunday.

    It’s not the cheapest, but it’s the only local commercial campground where you can have a fire.
